Jaylynn as a puppy with her new family
It’s been almost a year since I have last seen my sister. She was at A1 K9 Rescue with me and ended up being adopted before me because I wasn’t ready to be adopted because of my health problems. Jaylynn was adopted into a pretty large fur family she has 3 Pug sisters and a Boston Terrier brother.

Don't we look like twins?
Jaylynn’s Mom found my blog and contacted us via email. Turns out we don’t live too far away from each other now and we scheduled a play date. I go to dog parks often but Jaylynn hasn’t ever been to the dog park. So I think it was a little intimidating for her at first. It was a lot of fun to see her again. I think we will end up playing again when it gets warmer out and maybe next time she will bring some of her brothers and sisters.
We are considering adopting a dog from A1 K9 Rescue. Please let me know what your experience was like with them. Thank you.
The experience we had was very good. There was much time spent with us going over Vegas’ condition and discussing exactly what happened. We were sent home with a lot of information Vegas’ remaining antibiotics and some other medicines. A1 K9 Rescue is very vigilant about making sure the dogs are healthy. However, please keep in mind a dog’s health is never guaranteed in life regardless of how well they are bred. They were also kind enough to keep in contact with me months after we took Vegas home. That was good for me because I was very worried about her condition and it was nice to have a sounding board for what seemed normal and they got some additional feedback from the vet who preformed her surgery regarding her condition. Our experience was probably more in depth than most due to Vegas’ condition. I would welcome Jaylynn’s Mom and Ella’s Mom to also comment on their experiences too. I have seen they have also made improvements to the physical location of the rescue since I have been there, so that is really great!

Mommy to Vegas
My husband and I got Ella (Vegas’s sister) from A1K9 Rescue in November of 2008. We chose to get a puppy from there because they take such good care of all of the animals prior to adoption. Our vet was very impressed with the detailed medical history that the rescue provided. In my opinion they really make sure that you are getting a healthy pet from them. And should there be any medical problems, they are up front and honest about their condition. The rescue is also provides a very loving home to all the pets they have. You could tell the family has a genuine love of animals. We recommend the rescue to all our friends, and would get another pet from there someday!

I love A1K9… they seem to sincerely care about the dogs that they take in and are willing to take on a number of various health issues…. as in the case of Vegas. Jaylynn (formerly Reno) is Vegas’ sister, they were the only 2 from that particular litter that we know about… we went back and forth as to which one of the girls we wanted to adopt, however, the decision was more or less made for us when Vegas had a second prolapse and wouldn’t be ready for adoption as early as Jaylynn… my son and parents drove from NJ to Ohio to pick her up, and they were impressed by what they saw and how much information Angie gave them about Jaylynn. She also sent some food, all health records, the rest of the medication Jaylynn was taking prophylactically for giardia/worms and general booklets about the care of puppies. We still keep in touch to this day…. Jaylynn has been a part of our family since November 2009, when she was 14 weeks old! Good luck to you in your journey to adopt!
Ooops…. I meant November of 2008….
I was so happy to find this site. My husband and I are making the 36 hour round trip drive from Florida to adopt a puppy from them this weekend. I live and breath anti puppy mill and my biggest nightmare would be to purchase a dog from a broker posing as a rescue. There are so many negative things about them on the internet from people saying they are not a legitimate rescue, but not a single post is from someone that has actually been there. I called their vet today and they verified that they are a rescue and now I find this from people who actually adopted. I feel much better now!

Congrats on adopting your new puppy. I have seen some of the negative posts about A1 K9 Rescue and I think there are just a lot of people making judgments about the rescue without actually visiting the rescue. My experience was not negative and I am sure that not all rescues would have invested the money to save Vegas. I have met other people who have adopted from A1 K9 Rescue through Vegas’ blog and I asked them to add their thoughts on A1 K9 Rescue because I thought it would be helpful to those concerned about the negative comments on the web. Feel free to add yours when you have made the trip to adopt your furbaby.
